Interesting things learned at a Fruit meeting.

The past two weeks have been “fast and furious” with samples, students, interviews and customer service responses.  I wish that there are more people in the Plant Clinic so that we are able to provide a better service to the folks.  Unfortunately I only have one diagnostician, several able-bodies students and a limited amount of time.   Another things that I wish for is that meeting are all done in College Station, where I can come and go as I like and still get work done at the… Read More →

Things may not seem as they appear.

Sorry for the late Friday musing post due to a trip to South Caroline for a wedding.  That adventure (including a foray to my old stomping ground at the South Carolina Botanical Gardens will be for another Friday.  Friday musings better late than never…   Two Fridays ago, I was greeted upon entering the Plant Clinic with a wet lobby and a soaked secretary table.  Looking up, I could see where the water infiltrated our lobby.  I sent Bobbi, our Technical Secretary upstairs to see if the folk… Read More →

New service at the Plant Clinic – sorghum ergot testing

Well, cooler temperatures (~90s) at the later part of the week seems to have weather forecasters thinking that the string of hot, hot days are over.  Nonetheless, with the dry conditions and any potential windy conditions still make many parts of Texas a danger to wildfires. With wildfires in the news and most people knowing what fire can do to plants. I think it would be educational to look at what heat ( not as extreme as a… Read More →

One day late….what about my dying tree.

This post is one day late from my attempts to post something every Friday. Things have been busy in the Plant Clinic with the 2nd week of classes at Texas A&M. We are trying to get our student workers started in the lab… but nothing always works on my own time schedule. Due to delays, I only have one of the 3 new student workers being prepped for the Clinic. In my frustrations and anger and disdain at the inefficiency, I was reminded that I am exhibiting an… Read More →
