TDA-BESC Summer Undergraduate Professional Experience and Research program
(TDA-BESC-SUPER program)
Duration: Summer 2022. (May 24,2022 – August 13, 2022)
Application Deadline: February 14, 2022 extended to March 18,2022
This program will be opened to current Texas A&M University students (preference will be given to BESC and ENST students) to take advantage of an internship that combines research and/or extension work with professional exposure to Texas Department of Agriculture field operations.
This will be a paid 12-week student-work internship (40-hr week at $10/hr).
There are 2 types of TDA-BESC-SUPER internship:
- TDA Pesticide Regulatory
- TDA Plant Quality
TDA Pesticide Regulatory Internship
Student will be interning in a research/extension lab with a PLPM/BESC faculty member. Student will have to participate/shadow a TDA Plant Regulatory inspection team on several investigations and may participate in the investigation in an assistant capacity. Participation in regulatory inspections will account for up to 14 days of the internship experience.
TDA Plant Quality Internship
Students will be internship as an Extension student worker in one of the Plant Disease Diagnostic Labs (locations in Amarillo, College Station and Weslaco). Student will have to participate/shadow a TDA Plant Quality inspection team on plant inspections and may be required to participate in an assistive position to the TDA inspector (up to 14 days of the internship period).
